English Team Picked for Europeans

All of us at the Bodyboard-Depot would like to congratulate British rippers Clare McGowan, Remi Geffroy and Jack Johns for getting selected for the Europeans!   As sponsors of the boog team we wish them all the best of luck, we hope you bring home the bacon! Newquay Activity Centre is also sponsoring the surfing team, if you too would like to be a part of the effort full details are below.   The English Surfing Federation (ESF) has finalised its selection of the English team to take part in the European Surfing Championships in Bundoran on the west coast of Ireland between September 23 and October 2, 2011 - now they need the support of the surfing industry and beyond!   The team, which consists of a large percentage of Newquay surfers, are entering the final stages of their pre-event training and are now looking to Newquay businesses to support their mission to achieve individual and team success. As the sport continues to receive no funding from the sport’s governing body, Surfing GB, or from Sport England, the ESF committee has devised a win/win scheme for businesses from the surfing sector and beyond to support the cream of English wave riders.   An English Surfing Federation team t-shirt is being produced, which will display a logo of the companies that are supporters of England's bid for European gold. For your company to have their logo adorning the t-shirt you simply pay £100 and supply a jpeg image of your company’s logo. This is not exclusive to surf-related businesses; any commercial company or individual that feels they would like to support English surfing is welcomed.   For a £100 contribution, your company gets a logo on the team kit, team banner and all press releases relating to the team trip and the event. It also benefits from being able to officially class themselves as an English Surfing Federation Supporter and can use the ESF logo on their own website and promotional merchandise. Companies that have already pledged support include Snugg Wetsuits, Carve, Surfgirl and ThreeSixty Magazines and The Newquay Activity Centre. Protest Clothing have also come on board as team kit sponsors for the third year in a row.   When the t-shirts are printed, each team member will be supplied with 20, which they will sell. The money that each team member raises can be put towards their travel and accommodation costs to get to the event. So if you don’t have the funds to sponsor the t-shirt, another way to support the team members is to buy a t-shirt from one of the squad.   The English team’s entry fee and membership to the European Surfing Federation has been paid for by the Rip Curl English Surfing Federation Surf School based at the Newquay Activity Centre on Headland Road in Newquay.   To sponsor the English Surfing Team, at a cost of only £100, or to purchase one of the t-shirts, please visit the Rip Curl ESF Surf School, based at the Newquay Activity Centre, 22 Headland Road, call 01637 877722 or email
