6 Months’ DVD Premiere at The Bodyboard-Depot - A Big Success! A crowd of frothing bodyboarders from all over the south west showed up at Newquay’s number one bodyboard shop, The Bodyboard-Depot on Thursday 17th May. The reasons for the gathering were to check out the latest DVD offering from Australia, to raise money for The British Bodyboarding Club and also to check out the latest imported boards and clothing from the brands Found and Turbo.   The original plan was also to hold an Expression Session bodyboarding competition with a unique new format to the UK where competitors are judged using video evidence of their riding. Unfortunately mother nature didn’t co-operate and the ocean was flat. Instead it was decided to have a sweep stake on the IBA Arica Chilean Challenge so everybody threw their money in, picked a name from the hat and the person who picked the winning riders (when the event is completed later this week) will win clothing from Prone, Found, ThreeSixty Magazine and The Bodyboard-Depot.   The film, ‘6 Months’ by Australian Ewan Donachie was very well recieved by the crowd, just what everyone needed to re-stoke their enthusiasm after this 3 week UK flat spell.   The bodyboarders in attendance all commented on the excellent quality of the new board and clothing ranges and a number of the riders purchased new boards. The Found and Turbo ranges seem to offer much slimmer and lighter boards than their competitors, they are setting the future trend of bodyboard production.   The Bodyboard-Depot raised nearly £150 for the British Bodyboard Club through entrance fees for the film, IBA sweepstake entries and £5 from every board sale made on the night. This much needed money will go towards the running costs and equipment required for the re-vamped BBC tour that is due to start in Wales next weekend.   The Bodyboard-Depot would like to thank all the bodyboarders that attended the event and gave generously towards the British Bodyboard Club.   If you missed this event the upcoming Bodyboard-Depot events will also be raising money for the BBC and include top quality coaching and advice about the best kit available:   The June 2- 5 Bank Holiday Bodyboarding Mini-Break.
