Welsh Waves Came And The Riders Conquered! - Bodyboard Weekend Across The Border!

So it was finally time to venture across the border and experience the beautiful coastline Wales has to offer. As opposed to our last bodyboard weekend in Cornwall where we were forecast great waves that ended up slightly evading us, the weekend in Wales was quite the opposite! The forecast originally wasn’t looking incredible but luckily for everyone it couldn’t have been more wrong! Rob and Sam hit the road on the Friday and made their way to Wales firstly to run an IBA judging course that evening. To show his support for British bodyboarding Rob ran the course for free and it proved a great success meaning that everyone involved now had the capabilities of running future competitions! Rob had this to say: “It was a pleasure for Sam and I to meet WBC judging staff and deliver the IBA judging course on Friday evening. The attendees picked up the new skills really quickly and The Bodyboard-Depot look forward to continuing our support of the WBC through discounts to the shop, coaching and contest advice in the near future. We strongly believe in supporting those who support bodyboarding, good luck with the club.” http://www.welshbodyboardclub.com/ Photograph taken by Alex Clark It was soon time to ship out and get to Llangennith for the bodyboard weekend itself. The Saturday morning greeted Rob and Sam with the best waves they had ever seen at Llangennith as well as some beautiful sunshine. The course was held on a beautiful beach and we were blessed with sunny weather and much better than forecast waves. Although not my first course with the excellent team from the Newquay Activity Centre I was impressed with the high level of instruction and learned a really good paddle technique to help me catch waves earlier which means a lot more wave time. On the Saturday we met up and shared a BBQ with fellow boarders and watched an amazing sunset. I’d highly recommend anyone attending one of these courses whether a beginner or experienced as you will get so much out of the sport whilst learning from the best in the business and having fun whilst doing it!" Overall it was an absolutely amazing weekend! Their were vast improvements all round and some ultimate shredding in sick waves! Thanks for having us Wales it was a blast. See you again next year!
