Specker[/caption] As many of you will know, Bodyboard-Depot Director Rob Barber and the rest of the Depot team have been pro-active since day one with the UK contest scene. Whether it’s sponsoring events, selecting venues, organising training for event staff, judging or just doing anything possible to help get the UK events off the ground it has been a big focus of the company. So it was great to be recognised for this commitment to the sport by Danny Bycroft who is the international director of the Free Surf World Bodyboard Tour. Rob Barber was chosen to judge the European leg of the Free Surf World Bodyboard Tour which which was an honour. Rob commented "It’s great that the team behind the Bodyboard-Depot are recognised as the most credible officials in the UK scene, Stoked!" Judging from the computer screen was a new one for Rob Barber.[/caption] Danny Bycroft sent us a Judges code to access all of the videos from the riders that had entered. We then carefully watched each one of the clips no less than three times before judging who we thought were the best three. The winner was Basque country bodyboarder Alex Uranga who beat Amaury Lavernhe in to second, closely followed by Pierre Louis Costes. Uranga’s shredding at a sick european wedge saw him get the vote. There is a full report on the results here. We were stoked to be involved in this forward thinking event and look forward to helping it develop in the future! We strongly suggest that you support it and help our sport continue to grow (while at the same time getting to check out loads of incredible bodyboarding from around the world!). Have you checked out the Free Surf World tour website. It’s the newest way of finding the worlds best bodyboarders. Have a look on the site and you will see how it all works. Basically you pay a membership (you can sign up to the site for $29.99 for the year and access all of the riders clips), then you can vote on who you think is the best and support the most amazing extreme sport in the world! As well as the public votes there are international officials selected due to their bodyboarding credentials. Each rider gets one month to create a clip that they hope will impress the judges and win them the title. The world is split in to regions. So far Alex Uranga has won the European region and Jeff Hubbard has won the North American region. Danny Bycroft sent us a Judges code to access all of the videos from the riders that had entered.
